The Home Health Aide (HHA) provides basic care in the home to clients and their families coping with an illness or disability. This care includes personal hygiene, bathing, range of motion exercises, and simple treatments. Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, the HHA observes the client's condition and makes plans for care. The HHA may help maintain a healthful home environment by shopping for and preparing food, assisting with essential homemaking tasks, and accompanying patients to medical appointments. Positions are available in registries, skilled and extended care facilities, home care agencies, and hospice care.

The HHA certificate program expands on previously acquired skills learned in the Certified Nurse Assistant program by focusing on the holistic care and health needs of the homebound person. Upon successful completion of the program students receive of Certificate of Completion recognized by the State of California and do not need to take a further examination.
