Awards Offered by Los Rios Community College District

There are five types of community college awards:

  1. Associate in Arts (AA)
  2. Associate in Science (AS)
  3. Associate in Arts for Transfer (AA-T)
  4. Associate in Science for Transfer (AS-T)
  5. Job Certificates

Associate of Arts and Associate of Science

Associate of Arts (AA) and Associate of Science (AS) degrees provide a range of career options that prepare students for entry-level employment in specialized fields. Examples of degrees include nursing, business administration, design technology, and real estate.

Associate of Arts for Transfer and Associate of Science for Transfer

Associate of Arts for Transfer (AA-T) and Associate of Science for Transfer (AS-T) degrees provide guaranteed admission to the California State University (CSU) system. The AA-T and AS-T degree options allow you to build on your educational experience by smoothing the transition between community college and CSU system. Students that earn an AA-T or AS-T have the opportunity to transfer to the CSU system and earn a bachelor's degree in a similar major with only 120 combined units.

Job Certificate Programs

Job Certificate programs prepare students for entry-level careers or provide specialized skills for advancement in an existing career. For most students, job certificate awards take less than two years to complete.
