Description
Geographic Information Systems (GIS) are collections of computers, software applications, and personnel used to capture, store, transform, manage, analyze, and display spatial information. The technology has a wide variety of applications in planning and management by government agencies, business, and industry. The associate degree provides a solid technical background in GIS concepts and applications including database design, Global Positioning System (GPS), cartography, programming, spatial analysis, among many interdisciplinary applications of the technology. Work experience in the GIS field is part of the program which provides students with real world applications valuable for entry-level employment opportunities.
